The nature and purpose of the church determines its structure. It is not
a democratic or political organization. It is a living, dynamic organism.
It is a vibrant and anointed partner with God. This view should be the basis
for the structure and methods of the church.
- The church is a fellowship (Acts 2:42). Its structure and methods
should promote unity and minimize differences.
- The church is a family (Galations 6:10). It is to operate on the basis
of relationships not rules, maturity, authority not anarchy.
- The church is a body (I Corinthians 12:27; Romans 12:4,5). It is to function
on the basis of recognizing God's anointing and spiritual gifts not elected
offices.
"When organizations are stressed, maintenance becomes the focus. When spiritual
gifts are recognized ministry becomes the focus." Rick Warren
-
The church is a flock (Acts 20:28; I Peter 5:2,3). The best way to express
love for Christ is to feed His sheep (John 21:16, 17). Sheep are to be
led and fed not driven or pushed.
Five Dimensions of Church Growth
Churches grow warmer through fellowship.
Churches grow deeper through discipleship.
Churches grow stronger through worship.
Churches grow broader through ministry.
Churches grow larger through evangelism.
